New Scania T560

20131116-125652.jpg

Yes she is an awesome looking beastie. Quite a lot of you would have seen it about perhaps on websites for sale or at some shows this year. Scanlast from Sweden have created a rather eye-wateringly good brand new Tcab Scania. Yes it really is new and the current sale price will reflect that, although when I asked Scanlasts Leif Loden he wouldn’t give me a price but he did hint that it wouldn’t be as much as the €200,000+ that it cost to build. The chassis and engine is brand new from the factory and the cab and bonnet are added to it, to make a new truck. When will Scania realise that they should still make a bonneted truck?!

If you want a show truck then you better book a ticket to Sweden as this is a one off with one hell of a top spec. Have a look at the brief list below;

If I had the money I don’t think I’d find much better at the moment, after all looking at the general truck fashions at Truckstar Festival this year, it seems that Highline Scania trucks are the way forward. You have to admit that the Highline really suits a 6×2 Torpedo. Your man Leif at Scanlast said he was a little frustrated that he hadn’t sold it yet but I bet secretly he is quite happy with it sitting at his garage for now! Anyway I best get off and check to see if I won last nights £80,000,000 EuroMillions jackpot!! Keep an eye out for next years Longline project from Scanlast too.

I Need Help….

20130609-230703.jpg

….finding this old girl. I put a thing on here a few months back and there were various Facebook threads about this Scania Centurian and where she is now. I have to say I’ve sort of lost the thread and I’m not 100% sure what the outcome was. So if you know the where abouts of J88 VJP please email me: ben@truckblog.co.uk even if you don’t know then just email me your photos of her or the sister truck. I am told this photo was taken on a farm in Monmouthshire, but I don’t think it’s there anymore. Over to you…..

TB Polo Shirts

Martins Moody Motor

Our 143 Scania Finished!

Now there’s a beauty! As these are the days of modern classics in the trucking world, along with other well loved late 90’s models, Scania’s 3 Series Streamlines must be among the best. Whether or not it would be your choice, I think it fair to say we’d all like to restore our favourite Diesel Daisy if we had the time and money. So for those who have got the money (or not as they may claim), rebuilding a 143 500 just had to be done. What a good job too! But then again what did you expect from the combination of top independent Scania sales man, Mick Moody and top canal boat builder Guy Martin (apparently now and again he rides a bicycle with a motor on it too). The end result is some thing along the lines of a near on brand new truck, which I hasten to add is for sale if your interested, but be prepared for a nearly new price too. Justified in my opinion as where can you buy a virtually brand new 143?……Exactly. Any way after another of our little chats, Mr Moody told me of a little video of Guy, talking about the rebuilding of said Swedish beauty. I have put the video on here but if you search the YouTube for “Guy Martin” you’ll see what else he gets upto inbetween mechanic-ing for Mr Moody. Great truck.

Coming Soon – LEV 701V

Untitled

Here’s another old girl that has been saved from the scrap heap. This sleeper cabbed 4×2 Scania 111 has been nicely restored and when completed will be for sale, yes that right it will be for sale. This truck is LEV 701V, which was at one point part of the Brain Haulage fleet. Its been striped back to the chassis and the interior has been re-skinned and upholstered. I have to say that even in this condition it was beginning to look rather nice.

Untitled

Just a plain red and white livery will adorn the truck, with the engine being painted in that Scania engine green. She will be a nice tidy motor when done and in my opinion will be good enough for shows as it is. Although the man in charge says its just having a “basic” job done! I have no idea what the price will be but if you are interested I can put you in touch but seriously no time wasters, if you haven’t the funds for such a purchase please leave it to those who can. More photos to come as and when she is complete and ready to roll. Have you got any photos of her in her Brain Haulage colors or any other colors?? Email me; ben@truckblog.co.uk

For Sale: Daily Mini Artic

Untitled

Now and again I put a few things on here I find for sale on the Internet, but this time it’s something that i’ve been emailed this weekend. As far as i’m concerned it qualifies for “truckblog” as it is a tractor unit and trailer. Stuart Beevers, from what appears to be his own company, SPB Boat Haulage emailed me asking if I knew of anyone looking for a mini artic. Unfortunately I don’t off hand but i’m hoping that one of you lot does.

Untitled

Mr Beevers said the following in his email; “I have a I Iveco Daily 2006 mini artic for sale. It was a crew cab but now converted to a sleeper cab but could quite easily be put back to crew cab as all seats included. Only 60.000km. 2009 rm trailer 6700kg built to move boats but has a remove able alloy flat bed which can carry cars or pallets any thing I am after £26000. P.s it’s does 25mpg empty @4.5t train weight and 18/19 mpg full 10t train weight and only costs £165 a year tax.”

If you have any interest then please email me: ben@truckblog.co.uk and I will gladly put you in touch with Stuart. Perhaps I need to get myself into boat haulage so I can finally get a mini artic!

BIG BEAST NUMBER 2 – Also from Search Impex & WSI……Corrrrrr!!!

IMG_5266

This is a must for all you serious collectors, look at it, a real beast of a model! For those of you who don’t know Randolph, they are a real proper Scottish haulier, you know what I mean!!

Search Impex, are pleased to announce the release of a 1:50 scale Scania Topline R620 (8×4) tractor unit with Nooteboom World Adaptor trailer (with Vestas nacelle load), customised in the livery of Scottish operator Randolph Heavy Haulage. The model has been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles and is a certificated, Limited Edition (102 pieces). This is the second Randolph Heavy Haulage model to be produced and follows on from the sell out release of the MAN TGX XXL (8×4) with wind turbine tower section.

Based in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Randolph operates a variety of heavy haulage units, including another five 8×4 tractors, but their Scania Topline was the first “two pedal” 8×4 unit (i.e., truly automatic – with no clutch) to operate in the UK. Amongst other tasks, the Scania unit is used for haulage of heavy wind turbine sections, such as the nacelle (the heavy top section, or head of the wind turbine) included with this model, using wind-farm adaptor trailers supplied by the wind turbine companies for which Randolph undertakes the haulage work. They also carry the tower sections and the wind turbine blades.

The model is about 72cm long which, in real life, would be the equivalent of 36 metres in length! Longer loads are not unknown to Randolph – with some wind turbine bases being around 60m long and 5m wide and the wind turbine blades can be up to a whopping 62 metres long. When moving loads in the region of 145 to 150 tonnes gross (the Scania and nacelle being in this weight category), on-road fuel consumption is a little over three miles per gallon – but this can dip well below one mile per gallon when climbing hills and the going gets tough!

Models, available from Search Impex are priced at £315 each (including UK delivery & VAT). To check details of availability of this, or other models, collectors can visit the Search Impex website at www.search-impex.co.uk or call them on 01332 873555.

DYCE EXTENDABLES – New From Search Impex & WSI

IMG_5164

Another new limited edition that you’ll all be keen to get your grubby mits on. A nice tidy Volvo from Dyce Carriers fleet, with some rather flashy images on the cab. Have a read of the press release as there’s no point in me trying to re-type it in my own words!!

Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are pleased to announce the release of a 1:50 scale Volvo FH13 Globetrotter XL (6×2) with 3 axle, extendable trailer, customised in the unique livery of Aberdeen based operator Dyce Carriers Ltd. The model has been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles and is a certificated Limited Edition (205 pieces).

With two depots in Scotland (Aberdeen & Cowdenbeath) and one in England (Poole), Dyce Carriers has come a long way from its humble beginnings back in 1973 when, joint founders, David & Jean Moir started the Company with a great deal of ambition and a Morris Minor van. Today’s operation runs a fleet in excess of 50 commercial vehicles (a mix of Volvo, DAF, Mercedes & Iveco units ) and a variety of trailers, including extendables, flats, curtains and stepframes. The business specialises in serving the transport needs of oil and gas service providers as well as local engineering companies and loads can vary from small, urgent consignments, through to groupage, full loads and even helicopters. Operating throughout the UK and with some work in mainland Europe, Dyce Carriers’ trucks will already be a familiar sight to many truck collectors and enthusiasts.

Models, available from Search Impex, are priced at £143 each (including UK delivery & VAT). For details of availability of this and other models, collectors can visit the Search Impex website at www.search-impex.co.uk or call them on 01332 873 555.
