Bedford to Qatar

Here is another old classic heading off for a new life in the Middle East. Wilsons collected this little thing and took it to Felixstowe for shipping out to Qatar. It seems there are a lot of old commercials heading out that way, so i quizzed the driver if he knew why it was going out to the M/E. This is the story; “Apparently some Sheik or another has a large picture on his wall of an oil well his family have owned for donkey’s years. He now wants to recreate a living version of the picture, so is buying up all the vehicles in the picture and shipping then out to the oil well.” So now you know! A great story and sounds perfectly plausable, but then again any thing seems plausable to when Oil Barons are involved. Great little truck though and its been around a bit. According to the paperwork it was fully rebuilt and restored in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia.

I’m a Morrocan in France

………. Didn’t Sting write a song about that.
Sent in by regular contributer Steve “Marshy Truck Perv” Marsh, this Morrocan is his only other company in the services he is weekended at between Lyon and Grenoble this weekend. For those with keen eyes you can just see the little MAN beyond the front of the Magnum. Looks like a terrible weekend for being stuck in France!!

Activ Artic Atego’s

After the pictures Kindle 530 from www.trucknetuk.com sent me of the little Atego artic at Killingholme, click here, i thought i’d email Activ Cars to see if they wanted to send me any more pictures.
My new best mate at Activ, Malte Horneburg, sent me 3 pictures of what was in his yard on Friday morning, which you can see below. It turns out the trailer Kindle530 spotted was only an 11m trailer but the majority of Activ’s trailer’s are 13.6m long but still with a single axle. I can’t say i fancy one on a windy day though, how ever smart they are! Of course I’d happily drive one given the oppotunity.

In the above picture note how long the weelbase of the furthest Atego is., or is it just a trick of the camera that it looks longer than the other truck??

I’m hoping to get a little more information about these to see what they actually carry, apart from airbus parts obviously!

RoMANia Not as Bad as it was???

A recent trip to Brasov, Romania for Steve Marsh proved that some things in Haulage do get better or so it seems. Of all the countries in Europe Romania is the only one that Steve said he didn’t want to go back too after a trip there 5 years ago, so as you may expect he wasn’t looking forward to going back. After the delivery he sent me these pictures and said “Not as bad as i expected, there were fewer horse and carts on the road!”

He came across this little place that was full of dead or cut up English trucks, i think the little MAN was keen to get on its way!

MAN of Many Talents

After having a scout through the old photo archive yesterday i came across this little gem. Back in the good old days when i was tramping the Country keeping our citizens going by delivering many a varied load of stuff i took this some where in the Leeds area. First drop was the BAR Cargolifts, to some where just off the M62 in the Leeds area (i’m ashamed i can’t remember where though!). Next drop was the rear pallet of boxes containing a sunbed from Cyrano Leisure in Braintree and delivered to Warrington. Then 3rd Drop late in the afternoon was the front pallet with yet another Urgent sun bed for Larkhall up in sunny Scotland. Great Days. It always amazed me that of all the cargoes we all carry that one of the most urgent ones is Sunbeds! They couldn’t wait, it was same day delivery if possible at worst next day. On the other hand if only i could share with you some of the people i met in the Tanning Salons of the UK or some of the staff…………..Crikey! Snap out of it i won’t get to sleep thinking about them…. those….

DAFt Time Delay MAN

My good friend David at Kersey Freight sent me these pics of one of his new DAF’s delivering in Milton Keynes. Looking at the pics i couldn’t help but think they looked familiar. Out come my photo archives and i found the picture below of me tipping at the same place many moons ago (in the best truck i had!) on the same bay as the Spaniard in the back of the newer photo. How bizarre!! How sad i recognised a loading bay!!!
