This was taken in Zadar, Croatia on the 19th Dec. Weekended while waiting to clear customs. The load was destined for a little island just off the coast of Zadar called Ugljan Island. TIR and ATA carnets used. Wilsons are doing a second load for delivery on the 31st Dec.

SPOTTED! Astran in Colchester
There was me fuming as i got nearly all the way to the hospital last night before i realised i had forgot the bag of bits the wife had asked me to remember! Any way i came down the slip road for the second time and i saw in my mirror some thing that had that look of some thing a little different. I hung back as a sado truck spotter type would, and as he came passed the red and yellow trailer gave it away, then the stickers on the back gave it away. It did look smart so i pulled out behind and followed him into Colchester and all the way up to the hospital, he carried on to Boxted and i turned into the H A&E. I was thinking how different the M/E trucks are compared to the old days. I came to the conclusion that really there isn’t a great difference at all. They are still in general Top of the range trucks, Super space cabs, XL Globetrotters, V8 Scania’s unless they are sellers. The trailers are still well equiped with tool boxes, beer kegs with water in (really) and other side lockers. Some trucks still have arabic writing and stickers. But all in all they still have that look, you know what i mean. My only thought was, i think the old 70’s trucks would be able to cope with the tarmac roads that run all the way across the desert, but i’m not so confident todays trucks with all their computers would be able to cope with running across the desert sands each trip like 141’s and F89’s did.

New Scania Special Edition

The new Scania Dark Diamond, click here to go to Scania’s Dark pages,
I’ve just made my first Christmas list to Father Christmas since i was a nipper, looks like a cracker, all the bells and whistles and rather a mean and moody colour, looks like Scania have finally produced a decent Europe wide special edition. Saying that i haven’t read through all the bumpf yet, so apologies if i’m wrong!! If by any chance you see or know some one who has ordered one, email me at ben@truckblog.co.uk
The other good little snippet was this comment “With the Dark Diamond we are starting a tradition of factory-supported limited edition vehicles,” concludes Mr Joel Granath of Scania Sweden. Smart!!
Leicester T-Rex
This unusual load was snapped on the back of a Leicester Heavy Haulage vehicle today. I’ve no idea how they managed to keep the monster in such a little cage! It was en-route to Oxford Street, London for a Christmas exhibition of some sort. They did manage to sheet it, as the Police didn’t want it on view to the Public incase it caused accidents. Contact LHH for all your strange or normal abnormal load needs by emailing them at traffic@hcwilsontransport.com
Mini MAN
Yea another Tonka toy, but thi time in the true form of its big brother. This little artic pulls mobile coffee bars around Switzerland for shows and events. The Swiss have always been sufficticated, we still use the back of an ex BT transit to buy our coffee from here in the UK, nothing wrong with it either! Cracking Truck 10 out of 10. I always think it’d be cool to buy a mini artic like this but make it look like a big truck, with bigger tanks a suitably scaled trailer etc etc, but obviously no one will as it’d make it to heavy and kind of defeat the object of buying a light mini artic. Perhaps that an idea for the lottery win list.
