Want to see some nice pictures of gorgeous Scania’s, then click the link. This is a relatively small show, held every year between Christmas and New Year at the RAI in Amsterdam. The quality is top notch as usual from the dutch, definatly one to check out, and an easy day out if you live close to Stanstead Airport!

One for you to think about. If you look carefully the supports for the exhaust stacks are set back down the chassis towards the 5th wheel and you can just see the 5th wheel in the photo. Now i dont know about you but there doesnt seem like there’s much room on the back for a trailer, well a box type any way, perhaps it pulls a silo or a tanker, even so i would think the susies might get caught up on those supports. Never mind lovely truck perhaps its just all for show!

8 sorry 10 wheeler!

This one made me a little jealous, thinking about my dail steed. This is a 440 10×4. It has a roof mounted air-con box, lovely body and i think i’m right in saying has a gross weight some where around 40 ton, perhaps you can let me know ( ben@truckblog.co.uk ) . I would happily drive this Volvo instead of my old 7+ year old Iveco Eurotrekker, simply no comparison. The extra axle is just to spread the weight it is not a drive axle, but it can be lifted and some also steer, but i’mnot sure about this one.

The Show!

Well where can i start?! What an excellent day we had, and yes even Jo said she enjoyed it (and i believed her!) For me this black beauty was the highlight of my day, but unfortunately it was sold the morning the show opened, Bugger! The Show its self was excellent, lots to look at that we don’t get over here. A huge change in attitude and approach to transport was very very noticeable in every thing, all the products on show seemed to be tailor made to each operators needs where as over here i get the impression we all go for the standard things because we can make do. Then again i think there is another more important reason, money! It is quite clear to see that the dutch are making money out of transport where as we aren’t. Take the black King of the Road Edition Scania, yours for a mere 115,000euro bought the morning of the show by a small haulier Ronald van Wel. There is still a good enthusiasm for transport over there, lots of kids wanting to be truck drivers , operators still wanting to paint there trucks in striking liveries, unlike most of our hauliers who more and more often seem to be turning to white, why? because its all they can afford. Sad but true. Being out there almost made me want to be an owner driver again, it was all very …….hmm……….. inspiring, if only we could all move to Holland!

Amsterdam here we come!!!

Right readers sorry its been a quiet week, slap on the wrist for me but keep coming back please. I’ve been getting the house work and chores done to earn some brownie points with Jo so she is in a good mood for our day round the RAI show in Amsterdam tomorrow. Hopefully i will report back with a few pics and stories and info and if your really good (and Jo will film me!) perhaps even a video clip!!!  If the picture is anything to go by i think we’ll have a good time.
