Old Timer Looks Like New

After some TLC for the last couple of months Wilsons trusty 141 starts on the show circuit. First stop being the Crowfield Truck Rally at Ipswich over the bank holiday weekend just gone. Next its off to some where south of Paris for a French oldtimer show. The only way it will get out to France will be with a load on of some sort. In the yard last week she was hooked up to Wilsons one and only curtainsider and i have to say it didn’t look out of place at all. Very smart. Not sure what it will go to France with but it wouldn’t look to bad as this set up.

Leyland……………What???

I never was any good a early Leyland models. This old thing was parked in Thorpe Bay (near Southend) the other weekend, next to the park, whether it was one of the cricketters set of wheels i have no idea, made a good picture though. If you know what type of Leyland it is please comment. My other question is, any ideas on what the thing on the roof is?? its not an early type of light bar i know that!! Have you got the answers? email me at truckblog@hotmail.co.uk

Golden Oldies

There were a few golden oldies that caught my eye. A Leyland Marathon, a nice old Foden and a nice 141 that looked familiar to another one i know of! When my wife quizzed the Irishman with the Panda he was very hesitant when she said “this really looks like another 141 i’ve seen!” Dont you love straight talking women. The Foden was a cracking little thing, i don’t know much about them, but i know my dad used to love them back in the 60’s and 70’s.

Do you want an old Trailer for a Restoration??

After speaking with David Fowler of ACH fame about old vehicles and trailers. He told me his insurance broker had found an old ACH trailer on an airfield in the Midlands. If you are after an old trailer look no further than Bruntingthorpe Airfield. For £500/scrapvalue look what could be yours;

If you look on Google earth at Bruntingthorpe Airfield, just remember there aren’t quite as many trailers there now. The picture is from 2006, as i spoke to Bruntingthorpe myself and they told me there are still a lot on site but not as many as on Google Earth.

Taken at Assen this year, look at the lovely 141 in the background!! I might dig out the color version at some point if i can’t be bothered to see if i have posted it before. Great picture, but would have been awhole lot better if they all had period trailers!!
