Oh the joys of seeing the shiny new truck stood out side the dealership waiting to start its working career. What a happy time considering i had only passed my artic test 2 weeks before. Happy memories in deed, o so happy!
10 minutes later and the happiness soons turns to reality!!

Surprised not to see a Thumping great V8 on the front??? This is heading down to Doha as a seller. East West is the name of Graham Ball`s company in Doha. The outfit is going down to join his fleet. The good news is the trailer will still be used around the Middle East so i may gain some new viewers!!

This is a bit of a SCOOP for truckblog. This model has only been advertised on the Tekno website and through a small email list from Kevin at Astran.
Tekno are building the model and there are only 350 being built, with Tekno keeping 150 for their model clubs. When TEKNO put it on their web page, it sold out in 12 hours becoming their quickest seller EVER!!!! This is quite surprising considering the flash modern stuff they do. It just goes to prove that Astran has a massive following. The model has been spec`ed up by Mr Astran himself, Ashley Coghill, so you can be sure of its authenticity!! It was decided that as Astran never ran any 140 Scania`s that were in the best red/yellow sign written livery, we have made the model as a 111.
The model will become collectors’ items due to the rareness and will only appreciate in value, delivery wil hopefully be in July with a guide price of £150.00 per model, which will come with a numbered certificate and a picture of the original truck.

I never was any good a early Leyland models. This old thing was parked in Thorpe Bay (near Southend) the other weekend, next to the park, whether it was one of the cricketters set of wheels i have no idea, made a good picture though. If you know what type of Leyland it is please comment. My other question is, any ideas on what the thing on the roof is?? its not an early type of light bar i know that!! I knew the reg number was familiar! Looks good in either guise i think.
There were a few golden oldies that caught my eye. A Leyland Marathon, a nice old Foden and a nice 141 that looked familiar to another one i know of! When my wife quizzed the Irishman with the Panda he was very hesitant when she said “this really looks like another 141 i’ve seen!” Dont you love straight talking women. The Foden was a cracking little thing, i don’t know much about them, but i know my dad used to love them back in the 60’s and 70’s.
Hopefully this truck/fleet one some awards at Truckfest. For a fleet mainly involved in Farm related work, they are in amazing condition. I keep meaning to try and find the Truckfest results, so i may update this post when i do (Note the bored wife in the background of the top picture!).
